Lauren Down's century helps the White Ferns win over GG XI

Lauren Down’s blistering century at Drummoyne Oval took away the match from Governor General's XI by a mighty 166 runs.

Put to bat first, White Ferns accumulated the score of 323. Suzies Bates started off the innings with a boundary and made a 74-runs stand with Lauren Down. Faltum broke the partnership to get Bates at 43. New Zealand lost Maddy Green immediately afterwards and their score read 103 for 2. Martin came out on the crease to support Down and to power, a 163 runs partnership.

Down completed her century including 13 boundaries and soon after she lost her wicket to McGrath. Martin made a score of 76 before she fell on a run out to Johnson. New Zealand lost two wickets i.e Satterthwaite and Perkins in consecutive overs. Perkin lost her wicket in an awkward fashion as Perkins hit the ball down the crease and it touched Martin's bat and Graham caught the bowl. Leigh Kasperek ended the innings with a boundary.

GG's XI lost Tahlia McGrath on a duck to Rosemary Mair. Heather Graham got out cheaply. After a few runs, Josie Dooley went out on a false shot to the square caught by Perkins for Amelia Kerr. Rachel Trenaman was run out on the subsequent delivery which left the GG's XI on 55 for 4 wickets in 15 overs. Annabel Sutherland was the leading run-getter for her side with 32. Alex Blackwell scored 28 but was picked up by Hannah Rowe soon after. Anna Peterson’s 3 wickets, in the end, concluded the match as GG’s XI were knocked out at 157 with about 10 overs to spare as New Zealand won by a mammoth 166 runs.
