Lancashire Cricket, on behalf of the three counties in the North West, have invited applications for the position of head coach for the newly created Thunder team, Manchester Originals (the region's The Hundred team) and Lancashire Thunder, on Monday (September 1). The candidate will be required to "drive the performance of women's cricket and contribute towards elevating the profile through the elite game and The Hundred as well as developing aspiring female cricketers with structured training within the development pathway," a release from the board stated.

The applicant is expected to have experience working as a head coach or a leader of any high-performance team in recent times, along with an ECB Level 3 coaching qualification, or any other international equivalent. Additionally, it will be required for the candidate to complete their Level 4 accreditation within two years of being appointed in the role.

The successful candidate will not only be involved with the region's high performance teams, but will also have to help build an effective pathway system to help young girls make their way through the ranks more easily. The coach will work closely with the regional high performance director with regards to decisions about player contracts, recruitment and general cricket strategies.

Paul Shaw is currently working as head coach of Thunder in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. He previously worked with Lancashire Thunder in the Women's Cricket Super League as well.

Applications will be accepted until September 16, after which all resumes will be scrutinised. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will then commence on September 24 or 25, the release stated.
