series against Sri Lanka on Thursday (April 28). Captain Bismah Maroof, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig and Fatima Sana won’t be part of the camp as they will be participating in the FairBreak Global T20 Tournament starting from May 1. Young Ayesha Naseem will also feature the camp after being omitted from the World Cup 2022 squad.
The 12-day training camp at the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi will be conduction from May 7 to May 18, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said in a release. Left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu is also out with an shoulder injury, while Nahida Khan is another omission from the side that featured in the World Cup 2022.
Javeria, who captained Pakistan in the absence of Maroof when the latter was on her maternity break, played only one match during the World Cup. A groin injury kept her out of a few matches, but didn’t make it back to XI during the tournament even after she was declared fit. Nahida, on the other hand, featured in four matches and could only amass 92 runs.
17-year-old Naseem, who impressed everyone in her short T20I career, is also back in the mix alongside Kainat Imtiaz, who missed out on the World Cup due to injury. Those who are part of the FairBreak Global tournament will join the squad on May 17 ahead of the series.
