"ICC is doing some really good work, which is good to develop women's cricket": Javeria Khan

New Update
ICC Women's World T20 is all set to start the sixth edition from November 9 in the West Indies. This time it is going to be the first stand-alone tournament and for the first time, the Decision Review System (DRS) will be used with one review per side.

ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 has changed the total scenario for the Women's Cricket. With the huge success, the viewership too has touched the sky. From a full-packed stadium at Lord’s in the last year's final to hope of a packed stadium at MCG for World T20 2020 final in Australia, this tournament will play a key role in the growth of Women's Cricket.

Pakistan captain Javeria Khan said this tournament would allow more girls to think about taking cricket as a profession. According to her, this stand-alone competition is a great initiative by ICC. "ICC have been doing some really good work regarding women's cricket. It had to be done, because when there are men's matches, then the focus is kind of on the men’s matches."

"But now, as a women’s tournament, (ICC) will give it full support, full priorities, full importance, like for the rules, the DRS system (DRS will be used for the first time in this tournament), everything. They are doing some really good work, which is good to develop women's cricket."

"In the past, women’s cricket was not given much importance, not much priorities, and this is why girls were not opting for cricket. So because of ICC’s this step (of having a standalone tournament) more girls will come forward, they have a future in women's cricket," she further added.
