Hobart Hurricanes seamer Brooke Hepburn is confident that they can make it to the semifinals of the sixth edition of the Women's Big Bash League, despite being handed a 10-wicket thrashing against Brisbane Heat on Sunday (November 15). She said they have to believe in themselves and come back strong in the next game.

"I think from a loss like today, you can't dwell on it too much. It's T20 cricket. We know if we play our best cricket, we can be the top four at the end of this tournament," Hepburn told the reporters after the match. "We will go through the same processes as we always do. A team review tonight and look at the things that we aren't proud of, what we didn't achieve today."

Coming on the back of the victory against Sydney Sixers, the Hurricanes were dismissed for paltry 82 by Heat. Hepburn said, "it was very disappointing" after their dominant display with the bat against Sixers. She stated that the bowlers did not execute the plans as well as they would have liked.

"I was really proud of the way we played up front, in the powerplay, first few overs we kept them under wraps. But we just gave them a lot of width," she added. "Credit to (Georgia) Redmayne, she batted exceptionally well. She has been in fine form this tournament. It's a shame she had to do it against us. We have to come back better with the ball."

The 30-year-old said that it is the teams that are able to perform consistently are the ones that are at the top of the table, adding, "It's the nature of the tournament. You have got to back up, and the teams that are doing well are backing up game after game."

"It is disappointing to come in today and put on a display like that, which obviously we don't proud ourselves on. We have played some good cricket this tournament, and today goes down as one of those days we did not play well," she stated.

Speaking about the impact of the bio-bubble, Hepburn said that although the experience has been different from what they had in Tasmania, that could not be a reason for their performances on the field. "Every team has the same condition. The teams that have adapted to it, turn up, review and perform well that are doing well in this tournament. We will be there in the end," she concluded.
