Prior to the fourth season of Women’s Big Bash League, the Melbourne Stars have announced the signing of pace bowler Holly Ferling. She has played 25 matches for the Brisbane Heat before. Before moving, she has taken 17 wickets including best figures of 4-8.

Ferling made her debut for Australia in 2013 and currently plays for Queensland Cricket in the domestic competitions of Australia. The 22-year old pacer shared her excitement, saying, “I’m really looking forward to coming down to Melbourne this summer and joining such an exciting club. It was a tough choice, and I’d like to thank the Heat for the past three seasons.”

She further added, “I’m excited about the opportunity to play in Melbourne alongside a few of the Stars girls I’ve played with through the national team and I’m eager to see what we can achieve this season.”

Captain of Melbourne Stars, Kristen Beams too was excited and welcomed her to the team. She thought Holly is a great addition to their bowling line-up. “We’re very happy to have Holly on board. She’s a great fit for the Club, both on and off the field and we have no doubt that she will help us push for finals.”

Chief Executive Officer of Melbourne Stars Clint Cooper said, “We’ve been busy pulling our list together over the past few months and we’d like to welcome Holly to the Club. It’s great to have her along with Georgia, Mignon and Erin who have all re-committed. Personally, I would also like to thank foundation players Gemma, Anna and Hayleigh for their services to the Club and wish them well for the future.”

Along with Ferling, Melbourne Stars confirmed the re-signing of Georgia Elwiss, Mignon du Preez and Erin Osborne. Bowler Gemma Triscarihas calls it to quit from the WBBL while Anna Lanning and Hayleigh Brennan are not going to be the part of the Stars for the upcoming season.

The Stars will open their WBBL campaign on 1st December against Sydney Sixers at CitiPower Centre.
