England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has released leg-spinner Sarah Glenn and fast bowler Freya Davies from the 17-member Test squad ahead of the one-off Test against India which is scheduled to begin on June 16 at the County Ground in Bristol.

On June 9, England announced a 17-member squad led by Heather Knight for the Bristol Test with seamer Emily Arlott getting her maiden call-up to the side. Both Glenn and Davies will now feature for their respective sides in the Rachael Heyhoe-Flint Trophy (RHF Trophy) matches on Saturday (June 12). The squad has been trimmed so that the released players can get enough practice ahead of the ODI-leg of the multi-format series. Glenn will turn up for Central Sparks for their round four matches while Davies will represent her South East Stars side.

The 21-year-old leggie made her debut in 2019 against Pakistan and has featured in 24 internationals England taking 38 wickets so far while Davies, who also made her debut in 2019 against Sri Lanka, has played 14 matches for England and has taken 15 wickets.

With Davies being released, England still have Katherine Brunt, Anya Shrubsole, Left-arm seamer Natasha Farrant and Kate Cross in the pace department along with allrounder Natalie Sciver. Glenn was the only specialist leg-spinner in the side while batter Sophia Dunkley, who earned her maiden central contract for the 2021-22 season, can bowl some leg-spin.
