Australian star all-rounder Ellyse Perry announced her decision to take strike for Victoria in the upcoming domestic season. This also means it would end the decade-long association with the NSW Lendlease Breakers.

Perry has stated her personal reasons for this crucial decision. This also indicates that the athlete couple (Perry and Matt Toomua) will play for a common team (Melbourne) in their respective games (Rugby and Cricket).

In the wake of such a development, it can be noted that the 27-year-old also missed the Kia Super League, stating that she wished to spend quality time with her family. This decision was made after considering a packed and busy summer season for the Southern Stars.

Aussies will play the White Ferns in a T20I series, followed by a series against Pakistan in UAE and the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in November.

This also means her stint with Sydney Sixers will remain unchanged as the contract is dated until 2020.

NSW and the exit of the stalwarts

NSW Breakers were crowned as the winners in the last season for the 19th time. However, Alex Blackwell announced her retirement from all forms of the game after the conclusion of the previous domestic season. NSW Breakers, the most successful team in the league, now receives the 2nd blow, with another unexpected exit by Perry.

Star Player Ellyse Perry has played for her home state New South Wales since she was 17 before progressing to play for the national side since then.

Perry told The Age about her decision that "At the end of the day, it was really very much a personal decision for family life. The opportunity to play at NSW for the last decade or so has been an absolute honour".

Ellyse Perry's shift to Victoria will virtually weaken the champion side, leaving a void in place left by her and Alex Blackwell, something which will be hard to fill.
