South Africa cruised to a 3-0 sweep in the ODI series against Sri Lanka after registering a 6 wicket win with 70 deliveries to spare in the third ODI. Sune Luus’s 4 for 30 runs helped Proteas restrict the visitors at 139. Their chase was powered by Mignon du Preez’s unbeaten 61.

Having chosen to bat first, Sri Lanka lost Chamari Atapattu for a duck and Prasadani Weerakkody within the first 10 overs. Anushka Sanjeewani stuck at the crease to make her a boundary-laden 28 off 64 balls. She too fell to de Klerk, immediately afterwards. With boundaries dry from all corners, Perera tried to hit a low full toss and smashed in the air and Ismail took the catch as Sune Luus got her first wicket.

Madavi made her brief cameo with 2 boundaries and a six, as she looked at the wickets of Siriwardene and de Silva at the other end. Luus clean bowled her to grab her 4 wicket haul. After which, Sri Lanka was bowled out within 10 runs at 139. As de Klerk’s over saw 3 wickets, Ismail bagged two consecutive run outs.

Steyn started off the innings with a boundary with two boundaries coming in the first over. Wolvaardt fell at 6, followed by Andrie Steyn before Mignon du Preez joined Goodwall at the crease for the definitive knock of the match. The pair started sedately, composed largely of singles and rare boundaries with Goodall getting run out immediately after the pair had a 50 run partnership.

In the meantime, Mignon du Preez kept the scoreboard ticking, as South Africa lost their captain for 5. Ranaweera picked up her 3 wickets for her side. De Klerk hit the winning boundary to register the 6 wicket victory with 70 balls remaining.

South Africa won the match and whitewashed the ODI series 3-0. Sri Lanka would now look forward to England on their home turf next month.
