Former Momentum Proteas captain Mignon du Preez teamed up with PitchVision to host a two-day girls camp at the Centre of Excellence in Pretoria from the 21 to 22 of April.

The PitchVision girls camp is open to all cricket playing girls.

What is the camp all about?

The camp is about giving girls’ cricketers the opportunity to train at a world-class facility, the Cricket South Africa’s Centre of Excellence.

The girls will get instant feedback through the PitchVision systems as well as get exposed to the different individual coaches to improve their overall skillset and help to take their game to the next level.

du Preez’s Role at Pitch Vision Cricket

du Preez is an academy director of PitchVision South Africa. She is in charge of matters related to women’s cricket such as arranging technology-based girls’ cricket holidays and weekend camps.

"Being a women's cricketer myself, I am very passionate to give back to the game and invest in the younger generation of girls' cricketers. There are always camps and academies that cater for boys but as girls, we don't get the same attention. Thus, we decided to start something that will focus on the ‘girl’ side of the sport", said du Preez.

What should the girls expert at the camp?

The camp will cover three aspects of the game: batting, bowling and fielding.

Batting- innovation, Power hitting, different sweet options and using of feet. Bowling- Variations, target and death bowling. Fielding- High and overhead catching, attacking fielding, throwing technique and sliding.

The focus will also be placed on growing the players' mental awareness and as well as their cricket knowledge.

Momentum-Main Sponsor

The elegant batswoman said that they are fortunate to have Momentum a sponsor for their PitchVision Girls cricket camps.

As the camp costs, R650 per player Momentum will be giving five girls that won't be able to afford the opportunity to attend the camp as  ‘Momentum Sponsored Players’.

Cricket South Africa and Momentum have invested a lot of resources into the women's game. Momentum is passionate about growing women’s cricket in South Africa.

Women's cricket in SA is in a very healthy state and has now become a viable career option with CSA contracts on offer.

In Preparation for the T20 World Cup

‘’We have lots of cricket leading up to the World Cup. We will use the game time to try different combinations and game plan to make sure we find the best suitable combo that can work for us and suit our style of play.’’, said du Preez.

Despite a poor start in the ICC women’s championships, du Preez believes that they can achieve automatic qualification for the 2021 World cup.

Girls who are interested in being part of the fourth PitchVision camp can contact Shane Nel on +27 72 856 5699 or send an email to mignon.dupreez@pitchvison.com

The girls can expect to have a lot of fun whilst improving their own game.
