The United States host Canada in three-match series in a bid to qualify for the ICC Women's T20 Qualifiers to be played in Scotland later this year.

The three matches are to be played at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill in Florida.

The first fixture was played on 17th May 2019. Both the teams gave full debut to their entire playing XI. Bangalore born skipper of the USA, Sindhu won the toss and elected to field first.

Canada lost their opener on the second delivery of the inning and then adopted a very cautious approach. Perera and Mirchandani added 53 runs for the second wicket but took 16 overs in the process. Once the partnership was broken in the 17th over, Canada could add only 13 more runs in the next three overs to close the inning at 66-6.

Mirchandani led the scoring with 24 runs for Canada whereas Lisa Ramjit gave a clinical performance with 2-5 in 4 overs.

Chasing 67 to win, the USA batters did not waste any time and their 38-year old opener Erica Rendler went after inexperienced Canadian bowling. The other opener Chandhrasekar dropped the anchor to support Rendler's onslaught. With 9 fours, Rendler remained unbeaten on 47 in 35 deliveries and Chandhrasekar stayed at other end with 15 in 25 deliveries.

The USA chased the target in 10 overs with all 10 wickets in hand. Rendler was named player of the match.

Both sides will meet again on 18th May with the USA leading 1-0 in the series.
