USA Cricket announced that the last two talent identification events for women and girls will be held in California and Washington. The events, that were put on hold due to COVID-19 situation, needed to be rescheduled, and will now take place on October 16 and 17 in the Bay Area, and October 25 in Seattle.
USA Cricket Operations Director, Richard Done said that they are pleased to be able to reschedule the talent identification camps. "Our focus has very much been on player welfare for all of our cricketing activity in 2020 and putting in place guidelines and protocols to ensure that all participants, coaches and volunteers are not put in any undue risk."
Players, aged 13 and above, are eligible to register for these camps, and must do so by October 7, 2020 on the USA Cricket website. Players who previously registered, are required to do so again.
USA Cricket has said that the safety of players and coaches is their priority, and the events will adhere to all the safety protocols that are provided by the government. These events will be conducted in the largest available indoor facility with a limited number of participants for each session. They will be divided into groups and asked to attend at specific timings in the day. The players will be required to wear masks, and the venue will be sanitized after each session.
Done added that the local cricket communities have shown great support and he expects that this month will be an exciting one for women's cricket in the United States.
"Starting out with the Plano, Texas event on October 11th and then moving on to San Francisco and Seattle for the following two weekends, we are anticipating three strongly attended events and some new and exciting talent to surface,” he concluded.
