Cricket Association of Uttarakhand successfully hosts first-ever day-night women’s encounter

Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU) had already made headlines when it announced the commencement of its first-ever women’s T20 tournament. On Monday, the CAU attached another feather to its cap when it successfully organised the state’s first-ever day-night match at the Tanush Cricket Academy in Dehradun.



After the round-robin matches, CAU Red and CAU Blue made it to the final. Batting first CAU Blue posted 103 runs in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, CAU Red chased down the target with ease winning the match by eight wickets.

Anju Tomar of CAU Red, who scored an unbeaten 38 and also took a wicket in the final, was adjudged as the Player of the Match. “The tournament was organised to give a boost to women’s cricket in Uttarakhand. It is one of our flagship projects and we intend to create proper avenues for the state’s female cricketers,” CAU secretary Mahim Verma told TOI.



The tournament consisted of five teams. Each team consisted of players from different categories, including junior, senior and U-19 female cricketers.
