"Captaining this side is not easy" says Pakistan's Javeria Khan

New Update
"Captaining this side is not easy. You have to keep yourself calm also, and you have to keep the girls in a good mindset," Javeria Khan said on her new responsibility of leading the team. Regular captain Bismah Maroof has re-joined the squad but she will not be resuming her role as captain, for the time being.

"So it's not easy but enjoying this moment and looking forward to this World Cup," told Javeria. "It's not much of a difference, because it tests your mental toughness, and I have not had this problem. It's the management who has made workload quite easy and giving everyone their roles to apply. So it's not this difficult to manage both at the same time."

Javeria played more than 170 Internationals so far and currently is in a great form. "I've worked really hard on my game and will try to be consistent and help the team win as matches as I can."

"We have a young team and there is quite a lot of spark in the team. And as you said, T20 is a game where anyone can win a matchday on a day. Whoever plays good cricket can win a match. You have to apply your skills to do your best. If you apply your skills, do your best, then if the process is good then the results will follow the process."

Javeria said that they are all excited for the tournament. This will be a great exposure to the players. "Of course, the girls are really excited to play amongst the best teams and expressed their talent because our matches are not being televised like this. So it's good exposure for the girls and everyone wants to showcase their talent in front of the whole world. So every girl is excited plus positive to play in this tournament."

"Bismah is a very important player for us, and she being here gives the confidence to our team because she is a multitalented player. So her experience is really important for us because there is no replacement of experience," Talking about Bismah's return, Javeria added.

Australia recently claimed an easy win over Pakistan. Each and every player has performed well there. "It's going to be a tough selection. Sort of feel like we've got a pretty good idea, but, yeah, just want to get through training today and then we'll make a final call. Definitely going to be pretty tough."

"Whatever mix we do go with, we're confident they'll be able to do the job," Lanning added.

"T20 is changing all the time. It can change within one ball or an over. You need to be able to play according to what the situation is. If you don't adapt to what you're doing, you're probably going to get left behind." said Lanning.
