Having travelled from Karachi to Dubai, Pakistan and West Indies prepare themselves for the first ODI of a three-match series. While Pakistan know the conditions well hosting most of their home series' here, West Indies come in with the upper hand, having won the T20 series.

Point of Contention

Pakistan will be eager to get their campaign off to winning start. Having surrendered the T20 trophy to the Windies, in front of their home crowd, revenge will be on Pakistan's mind. They will want to establish their dominance over the Windies in the longer format and gain the ICC Championship points up for grabs. On their quest to reverse results, will Pakistan get off to a winning start?

Players to Watch Out for

Bismah Maroof (Pakistan)

Role: Top-order batter

Matches: 98

Stats: Runs- 2329; Average- 27.72; Best- 99

After missing out on Pakistan's series against Australia and not captaining the side in the T20 World Cup, Maroof returned as skipper against the West Indies. Though she may not have done as well with the bat as she would have hoped during the T20 series, she will be determined to regain her form in the ODI series. Maroof has been one of Pakistan's most consistent performers and has the ability to shift gears and mould her game according to the context of the match. On her day, Maroof  is a massive threat to the opposition and is definitely a player to watch out for.

Stafanie Taylor  (West Indies)

Role: All-rounder

Matches: 114

Batting Stats: Runs- 4282; Average- 43.69; Best- 171

Bowling Stats: Wickets- 134; Economy- 3.27; Average- 19.64; Best- 4/17

Taylor's statistics speak for themselves. One of the most well-known cricketers in the women's circuit, Taylor's name is one oppositions fear. She will be eager to contribute to her teams success and lead them to another series win over Pakistan, after missing out on the T20 series. Her destructive batting can dismantle any bowling unit, while her wily off-spin can demolition the most star-studded of batting line-ups. Taylor is an all-round threat that Pakistan will be wary of. They will undoubtedly have extensive plans to keep her in check, because when she fires, there is no stopping her.
