With doubleheaders the norm in county t20 cricket, it can be difficult for teams to bounce back with little rest in-between games. Worcestershire were asked to field just after coming off the back of a demoralising defeat against Sussex.

Nottinghamshire having won the toss put their visitors in. it didn’t look like the right call for Nottinghamshire as Sonia Odedra the captain was trapped lbw in the first over. Georgie Boyce made sure it was a bad day for Worcestershire as she scored her forth t20 fifty.

Boyce finished on 74 from 56 balls. She shared in a partnership of 107 for the fourth wicket with Lucy Higham. Worcestershire used eight bowlers as struggled to contain the Nottinghamshire batters during the middle overs.

Although, Clare Boycott with 1 for 16 from three overs and Emily Arlott 1 for 19 returned respectable figures. It didn’t look as if Boyce or Higham would be dismissed until Boyce was dismissed with 11 balls left of the innings left. Jess Humby the took the wicket of Megan Burton to finish with 3 for 24.

Worcestershire would have to attack from the start. It can always be dangerous however and when they were 3 for 0 with the final ball of the third over left Lauren Rowles was run out by Sonia Odedra.

Sarah Glenn fell in the next over bowled by Jodie Dibble. Izzy Wong was dismissed by Sophie Munro in the fifth over. Worcestershire were in trouble. Chloe Hill looked like she would once again be the batter that Worcestershire would rely on but when she gave Kirstie Gordon a return catch, it appeared as if their chances had gone with her.

Boycott top scored with 28 from 29 balls. Nottinghamshire use their spinners to good effect and they did so again here. Dibble finished with 3 for 16.

The win for Nottinghamshire ensured that they finished mid-table the season after winning promotion into division one. Worcestershire were relegated in this match. They will learn from this season and come back stronger next year.
