With India under a lockdown owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced its decision to conduct quizzes on Laws of Cricket and the BCCI Playing Conditions. While most of the players have been given training and fitness routines by the trainers, the umpires and match referees will get a way to prepare themselves with this exercise.

With an aim to enhance personal skills and keep the match officials updated and well-prepared for the season ahead, the BCCI has divided the umpires and referees on their panel into four groups. Starting from May 1, a set of six questions will be sent to them thrice a month. Six days have been given for the officials to answer those questions, after which they have to be e-mailed back.

The quiz questions will be sent out on May 1, May 11 and May 21 with answers needing to be sent by May 7, May 17 and May 27 respectively. The model answers then will be sent to the umpires and referees on May 10, May 20 and May 30.

The groups have to send their answers individually to one of the International Panel of ICC Umpires from India. This activity is to ensure that the umpires and match referees regularly brush through the Laws of Cricket and BCCI Playing Conditions.
