The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the post of board’s General Manager (Game Development), which former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim resigned from, last week. The last date for submission of applications is August 7 and the person will report to the CEO and the office bearers according to the board.

Karim was the third high-profile official to resign with Toofan Ghosh (COO at NCA) and Rahul Johri (BCCI CEO) also leaving their posts. Hemang Amin has been looking after the duties of the CEO on an interim basis along with his role as IPL COO.

The 52-year-old Karim was appointed in-charge of the cricket operations in late 2017, succeeding the late MV Sridhar who had given up his post in light of Conflict of Interest concerns. Karim’s responsibilities included providing ‘strategic direction to the cricket department’, besides implementing ‘operational plans, budgeting, determining and monitoring the compliance of match playing regulations, standards of venues, administration of the domestic program’.

He was also given the charge of women’s national team’s operations and drew up the current version of the domestic structure - dividing domestic teams into Elite A, B, C and a Plate Group from which eight Ranji Trophy quarterfinals are determined
