Former Bangladesh men’s opener Javed Omar, who was appointed as the manager of the women’s national team for the last couple of series, will not represent the board in any of the future ICC events, according to reports on Monday (April 20).

Omar, nicknamed Golla among his peers, went to Australia during the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the same capacity and alleged to have passed on team information. It is believed that cricket’s apex body has directed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to keep the former player out of contention after having followed his activities during the tournament.

“Yes we’ve been informed by the ICC to not include him (Omar) in any future event,” a BCB official confirmed on conditions of anonymity. “It is very disappointing honestly.” It is understood that Omar was constantly tracked during the event and have enough evidence against the Dhaka-born cricketer.

Omar, who played 40 Test and 59 ODI’s during his career, was a solid opening batsman who made his ODI debut for Bangladesh in 1995. Blessed with patience and a sound technique, Omar found the going tough in the ODI format as he struggled to score quickly.
