The Australian Women’s Cricket Team will feature in a two-part documentary airing tonight on Channel Seven that follows its victorious 2019 Ashes campaign on foreign soil.

Beyond the Boundary takes viewers behind-the-scenes with the number one ranked team in the world, the Australian Women’s Team, in its quest to retain one of the most coveted trophies in cricket.

The documentary commences with the team’s pre-Ashes preparations in Brisbane and follows the Australian Women’s Team across the globe to England. It’s here where the side faces reigning 50-over World Champions, England in the multi-format series featuring three Twenty20 Internationals, a sole Test match and three One-Day Internationals.

Speaking about the documentary, Australia Captain Meg Lanning said:

“Being able to shine a light on the women’s game through Essential Media and Channel Seven is really exciting especially during a series that we as players hold in high regard.

“England are a formidable opponent and while they didn’t play their best cricket they posed a real challenge in addition to a few off-field hurdles we were faced with.

“For a lot of us it was a new experience but knowing that it would give fans an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and get an insight into life on the road and the personalities in our team made it all worthwhile.”

The first episode will air on Channel Seven at 9:30pm tonight, with the second episode to follow on Thursday 5 December.

The programme, directed and produced by Cassie Charlton, has received funding support from Screen Australia, while also being endorsed by several agencies such as The Australia Institute of Sport and The Office for Women in Sport and Recreation in Victoria.

Beyond the boundary is an Essential Media Group production for the Seven Network.
