Ellyse Perry's 58 and Ashleigh Gardner's 3 wicket haul yet again stole the match from New Zealand despite Sophie Devine’s half-century to register a 7 wicket victory and a clean sweep of 3-0 to retain the Rose Bowl Trophy. Australia and New Zealand took on Junction Oval for the final ODI of the Rose Bowl series. Amy Satterthwaite won the toss for New Zealand and elected to bat first as they would have looked to avoid a series sweep. Megan Schutt started off the match with a maiden over to Suzie Bates. Bates opened her account with a boundary to Ellyse Perry. At the end of the 8th over, Perry and Schutt gave away only 34 runs without any wicket. Devine brought up the fifty run partnership with a boundary. Devine and Bates built a 70 run stand, after which Bates fell to Georgia Wareham. On the first ball of Wareham’s next over, Down fell to a diving catch by Perry to claim her second wicket. Martin successfully defended the hat trick ball and got off the mark with a boundary off the next delivery. Ashleigh Gardner picked up Martin as New Zealand lost their third wicket in the span of 45 balls for 23 runs. Devine completed her half-century in 83 balls including four boundaries, her eighth 50+ score in 16 innings since World Cup 2017. White Ferns lost Devine at 58 as Gardner struck. Satterthwaite and Katie Perkins played their part for 44 run stand but soon after lost Satterthwaite’s wicket at one run short of a half-century on a direct hit from Jonassen. Hayley Jensen lost her wicket without making a significant mark on the scoreboard. Perkins dropped on the boundary by Kimmince but the throw ran Leigh Kasperek out for 12. Perkins too suffered the same fate as her dive couldn’t save her from a runout. New Zealand were 222 for 8 wickets, but Tahuhu managed to put one to the boundary before the conclusion of the innings after which White Ferns accumulated 231 at the loss of 8 wickets. Rachael Haynes and Alyssa Healy opened the innings with a couple of boundaries to Tahuhu and Mair. Before the bowling change, Australia made 34 from 7 overs without a loss of any wicket. Australia’s opening pair secured an 84 run partnership soon after which Haynes fell to Kasperek after the score of 46. Australia needed the 148 runs off 200 deliveries. Sophie Devine picked up Healy at 46, to bring the Lanning and Perry partnership with their chasing average being 182.20 before the start of this match. Lanning and Perry scored fifty run partnership which was their ninth 50+ stand in ten ODI run-chases. Kasperek picked up Lanning at 48, to register herself as the fastest woman to take 50 ODI wickets for New Zealand and 6th fastest amongst all nations. At this stage, Australia needed 62 runs off 90 balls and their score read 170 for the loss of 3 wickets. Perry took charge and scored an unbeaten half-century to get her team over the line supported by Beth Mooney, who hit an unbeaten 35. This is Perry’s 27th 50+ ODI score and her 10th in a chase which also brought up Australia’s third fifty partnership of the innings. Australia won the match by 7 wickets to whitewash New Zealand.
