New Update

Luck favoured Malaysia initially, as they won the toss and elected to field first, but that luck didn't last long for the hosts. Sri Lanka opener Y Mendis started to hit the ball all around the park, until she got out by Sasha Azmi's bowling in the 10th over. Mendis slammed 36 runs off 29 balls, and her innings was well supported by he Nipuni Hansika's 20(37) and Anushka's 26(25). After 12 overs Sri Lanka were 68/2.
After the steady performances by the top order batters, the whole workload was on middle order to carry the momentum forward. Hasini Perera did the job, as she fired a quick 32(27) in the death overs. With the help of Mendis and Perera, Sri Lanka put down a challenging total of 136/3, despite the hosts putting in full efforts to restrict Sri Lanka to a low total. Sasha Azmi and Winifred, bagged a single wicket each, and Zumika and Noor Hayati Zakaria bowled an economical spell. Sasha was the most impressive bowler with the figures of 4/12 in 4 overs.
It was not an easy chase for Malaysia, with openers Yusrina and Baret starting their innings slowly. Malaysia managed to score a single run with the fall of one wicket in 5 overs, and Ranasinghe gave the first breakthrough by taking Yursina’s wicket. Malaysia were trying hard to settle down, but Nilakshi took 2 wickets in an over, and after 10 overs Malaysia were 19/3. At that point, it seemed like a major effort for Malaysia to even complete 20 overs.
After some exceptional bowling, Sri Lanka took down back to back wickets in alternate overs, and made the way for their victory. With the help of Siriwardene's last ball wicket, Sri Lanka won the match by 90 runs. All the bowlers were impressive, especially Nilakshi's 3/13 in 4 overs. Siriwardene picked up 2 wickets for 12 runs. Malaysian batters failed to make the mark, and only managed to score 43/7 (20 overs). Mahira 10(31) and Baret  14(32) were the only batters who scored double-digit runs. With this win, Sri Lanka makes a high jump in the points table, to reach the top alongside India.
Nilakshi de Silva(Sri Lanka) was adjudged the player of the match, for her impressive bowling performance of 3/13 (4 overs).
