Thailand won the toss and chose to field. Sri Lankan openers Mendis and Anushka made a solid start with a partnership of 31 runs. Anushka scored 32(45), which was the teams highest score.
Though the Sri Lankan top order performed well, the poor performance of the middle order pulled down Sri Lanka's score. But Ranasinghe's cameo of 20(18) runs lower down the order, helped the Sri Lankan Women set a decent target of 105 in 20.
Credits go to Thailand bowler Liengprasert, for bowling a great innings by giving only 12 runs and taking 5 wickets in 4 overs, which helped Thailand restrict Sri Lanka to a low total of 104 with the loss of all wickets.
With this low total to score, Thailand openers Chantam and Chaiwai made a decent start, and their top order performance was similar to their counterparts. With Chaiwai scoring a steady 43(56), and some additional runs from their other players, Thailand soon paved the path to an unlikely victory over Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka now has more or less no chances of reaching the finals now.
Thailand beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets, and the player of the match was Wongpaka Liengprasert for 5/12 with the ball, and a crucial knock of 13* with the bat at the end.
