Prior to the official warm-up matches of World T20, WHITE FERNS captain Amy Satterthwaite addressed the media. "Any series is really important for the preparation. We would like to try and rectify and want to really improve on our performances."

"It's one of the longest places to get to from a New Zealand point of view," said Satterthwaite about their hectic journey to West Indies.

"But the pleasing thing is we are here now and we can settle in and get that jet lag out of our system. We are looking forward to our first warm-up game and getting ready to go for the tournament proper."

"We know we need to improve our consistency with both bat and ball but we've got a quality side, we have a team that could win it," Satterthwaite is hopeful about her side's victory.

"I'm excited to see how the likes of Amelia Kerr and Leigh Kasperek bowl in these conditions – you would like to think they will suit them."

DRS will be used for the first time in the stand-alone World T20; where the WHITE FERNS have no experience using it. It was only available in a match during ICC Women's World Cup 2017. WHITE FERNS captain Amy Satterthwaite admits that this is going to be another challenge for them to prepare. "It's something that we have to learn pretty quickly!"

"The warm-up games are actually an opportunity for us to practice in a way. Even though you aren't going to be able to 'send it upstairs', the process we are going to follow as both batters and in the field is something we have talked about we want to implement in these warm-up games to ensure we aren't going into our first match completely cold."

The WHITE FERNS will start their campaign against India on November 9 at Providence Stadium, Guyana. They will play their first warm-up match against Sri Lanka at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Coolidge, Antigua on November 4.
