An unbeaten half-century by Omaima Sohail led PCB Dynamites to their first victory against PCB Blasters by seven wickets in the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at the National Stadium, Karachi on Sunday (January 12).

Blasters, who opted to bat first, had an inauspicious start when they lost Ayesha Naseem for a four-ball duck. From then on it was all about rebuilding the innings which Javeria Khan and Javeria Rauf did perfectly. The duo put on a 92-run stand for the second wicket, which laid the foundation for the rest of the batters to follow. While Rauf was eventually run out on 38, Javeria was cleaned up by Kainat Imtiaz for 43.

Dynamites then came storming back into the match courtesy, Sana Mir. The experienced spinner, with her twin strikes, sent back Natalia Pervaiz and Huraina Sajjad to restrict Blasters to 146 for six. Mir finished with two for 19 in her four overs.

Chasing a competitive target, Dynamites went about their business in a clinical fashion. First, their openers, Nahida Khan and Sidra Amin put on 34 runs, before getting out in quick succession for 11 and 19 runs respectively. Kainat Hafeez then got together with Sohail, ensuring that the openers' hard work did not go waste.

The duo put on 57 together for the third wicket, taking their time in the process. However, Aliya Riaz broke through when she got Hafeez for 39. But the young Sohail kept her calm and in company of the experienced Iram Javed, steered her side towards safety. In the process she crossed her fifty-run mark and ensured Dynamites finally got their first victory in the tournament.

Brief scores: PCB Blasters 146/6 in 20 overs (Javeria Khan 43, Javeria Rauf 38; Sana Mir 2-19) lost to PCB Dynamites 150/3 in 19.4 overs (Omaima Sohail 53* Kainat Hafeez 39; Maham Tariq 1-25) by seven wickets.
