In the last of our instalments of players to watch across the Kia Super League, we concentrate on the 5 overseas internationals. These players add depth to the talent on show and make the Kia Super League one of the most competitive in the world. We take a look at Suzie Bates (New Zealand), Beth Mooney (Australia), Marizanne Kapp (South Africa), Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana (India).

Suzie Bates – Southern Vipers

An outstanding all-rounder who is one of only two players to score a hundred in the Kia Super League along with her New Zealand teammate Rachel Priest. There are some grounds on which Bates will play on could be too small for her.

She is the captain of the Southern Vipers, also a more than capable bowler but the players at her disposal are of the highest calibre. Bates is also a good fielder and took one of the best catches of the previous Kia Super League.

Harmanpreet Kaur – Lancashire Thunder

The captain of the India T20 side, Harmanpreet Kaur is a big hitter. Her innings at Derby during last year's World Cup semi-final was one of the truly great innings in Women’s cricket. It single-handedly helped India to the finals.

It could be a good season for the Indian international and having proven she can score runs in England she will enjoy playing on some of the grounds which Lancashire Thunder will visit.

Marizanne Kapp – Surrey Stars

The fast bowling allrounder is a South African international who is one of the most economical bowlers in the world. She may not always get the wickets she deserves but she gives nothing away which allows her teammates to take wickets from the other end. Also, a decent batter expect her to add vital runs every so often.

Beth Mooney – Yorkshire Diamonds

The Australian batter had a very good WBBL 03 scoring important runs at the top of the order. In the past year, she has come to understand her game more and it is paying off for both Australia and Brisbane Heat.

Having played for Yorkshire Diamonds in 2016 she will be familiar with the area and the grounds on which she will be playing, so expect some fireworks.

Smriti Mandhana – Western Strom

One of the first two Indian players to sign up for the Kia Super League, like Harmanpreet Kaur her international teammate both who have played in the WBBL.

Smriti Mandhana will be joining the successful defending champions Western Storm where there will be less expectation to perform every time she takes to the park, which might help her settle in.
